Die Koppelstange, die man auch als Stabilisatorstütze, Koppelstütze oder Pendelstütze bezeichnet, ist trotz zahlreicher zur Verfügung stehender Varianten für die unterschiedlichsten Fahrzeugmodelle in ihrem Aufbau stets gleich. Es handelt sich um eine Strebe mit einer Länge, die zwischen ca. zehn bis zu ca. dreißig Zentimetern variiert. An beiden Enden der Koppelstange für das Auto befinden sich Komponenten, um sie am Fahrwerk des Fahrzeuges befestigen zu können.
Stabilisator und Koppelstange
Als Verbindungsglied zwischen Stabilisator und Fahrzeugrahmen verleiht die Stabilisatorstütze dem Fahrzeug deutlich verbesserte Fahreigenschaften. Die beim Fahren entstehenden Auf- und Abwärtsbewegungen werden über die Koppelstange am Auto an den Stabilisator weitergeleitet. Der drehbare Stabilisator gibt den Impuls wiederum meist an den Querlenker, bzw. die Radaufhängung weiter. Hierdurch wird eine direkte Reaktion des Fahrwerks auf die Beschaffenheit der Straße möglich. Unebenheiten und Schrägen können ausgeglichen werden.
Der Verschleiß der Koppelstange am Auto
Koppelstangen werden mit Hülsen, Gabeln, Kugelgelenken oder Schraubgewinden mit dem Fahrwerk des Autos verbunden. Da sie einer hohen Beanspruchung unterliegen, sollten insbesondere die Schraubgewinde und Gelenke über eine ausreichende Schmierung verfügen. Fehlt das notwendige Fett, können sich die Lager und Verbindungsteile abnutzen. Das so entstehende Spiel verursacht häufig lautes Klappern und Klopfen während der Fahrt. Obwohl verschlissene Koppelstangen keine unmittelbare Auswirkung auf die Fahrsicherheit haben, sollten sie dennoch zeitnah getauscht werden. Defekte Koppelstangen können weitere Beschädigungen am Querlenker, dem Federbein oder dem Stabilisator nach sich ziehen. Darüber hinaus kann die Koppelstange auch abreißen, was zu einer hohen Instabilität des Fahrzeuges in Kurven oder bei starkem Bremsen führen kann. Um eine Sichtprüfung vorzunehmen genügt es bei der Koppelstange der Vorderachse, die Lenkung einzuschlagen. Um die Koppelstange hinten zu begutachten, muss das Fahrzeug aufgebockt werden.
